Cassadee Pope – Wasting All These Tears (Official Music Video)
Genre: Country, Country Pop
Label: Republic Nashville
Released: July 16, 2013
I’ve absolutely fallen in love with Cassadee over the past year, and when this song was first released as a single a couple months ago, I couldn’t help but fall in love with it. With a country-twang and a bit of pop-rock infused in her new sound, Cassadee’s definitely making some marks post-The Voice winner success!
Although The Voice has definitely showcased her on a country platform, alongside Mr. Blake Shelton holding up many prior team successes, her pop-punk rock background is still definitely visible with her new sound. Infamous for her ability to convey emotions through every lyric she sings, she has the ability to captivate audiences in her sweet natural way. And, although studio recordings don’t entirely capture the liveliness and raw emotion of her performances, a recording and video was definitely needed.
She looks absolutely gorgeous in this video–albeit maybe a bit awkward since it is all acted and may be awkward to make non-actors act, I still thought it was sweet. The drapery and colors and entire look and feel of the video is beautiful. The intensity of the video and song builds up towards the end and we get to see marked moments of Cassadee just letting go and performing on a stage, in her natural habitat.
Nothing can ever quite do her justice, but this is an exciting release. It’s a wonderful song (though probably irrelevant to her life and long-time love with Rian) with a beautiful video to match, what’s not to love? She’s doing country with an edge.
* Her Grand Ole Opry debut, on the other hand, is a mighty big milestone! That’s talks for another time, though.
