“While My Guitar Gently Weeps” (The Beatles Cover)

“I look at you all see the love there that’s sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping
Still my guitar gently weeps”

A few weeks ago, I dove into massive musical nostalgia and rediscovered all of my old favorite classic guitar songs I played when I was much younger (and much cooler, as a friend told me, ha).

“While My Guitar Gently Weeps” is probably one of my favorite Beatles tunes (Kubo and Regina Spektor’s version from a few years back stole my heart).

With today’s ever-changing musical landscape, I’ve found myself trying new styles and sounds, only to go back to my acoustic, hear older tunes of the 70s, 80s and even early 2000s that stole my heart and what I naturally go for when I approach the guitar.

“The thing about the Beatles is that they sing the things that we feel but don’t say,” a friend told me. Something as simple as “I want to hold your hand,” or “something in the way she moves,” are so incredibly romantic and simple, that it’s no wonder the Beatles had become a worldwide phenom and influence on pop music today.

Thank you to my friend Kirby for helping me record this little one-off version of me jamming on “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.”

All it takes is a little time with your guitar to make you feel alive.

With love and honesty,

Rachel
