Just Saying “It Wasn’t Me” (Shaggy Cover)

There are those songs you hear that instantly get stuck in your head — stuck to the point where you can’t get it out and you just want to cover it.

“It Wasn’t Me” was probably one of the catchiest (and most vulgar) songs playing in the early 2000s. Little tween-me probably had no idea what Shaggy was singing about when I would hum along to it in the backseat of my mother’s car while listening to the radio.

It’s been a little tough finding the right songs or video material to record weekly for you all, but I figure the mere act of forcing myself to write and play is better than nothing! I like to think that it’s better to be consistent and try than give up and shy away because I feel my work isn’t “great” (let’s be honest, all work isn’t going to be “great”). There will always be hits and misses (and also weird covers like this).

Don’t take me too seriously on this one. (I was probably laughing to myself throughout the entire process of recording it.) I know I can’t sing, but hey — might as well put it out there because what’s there to lose?

After all: “here goes nothing” could be the start of everything.

With love and honesty,

Rachel
