The prettiest [boy] in the room [he] wants me
I know because [he] told me so
[He] says come over
I’d like to get to know you
But I just don’t think I can
‘Cause I still feel like your man
Happy Valentine’s friends! I know it’s been quite some time and I’ve a few updates coming soon, but I hope you take the day to recognize some self-love, the love around you and the love that has the potential to fill you up when you realize it!
I’ve been inspired by this little Instagram video a Philippine filmmaker (Sam of Baka Bukas) had shared and thought it captured the spirit of Valentine’s Day so perfectly:
What do YOU love about yourself?
Now this John Mayer tune has been in my rotation since its release last year, and he was truly at it with his soulful feel-good music and heart hitting lyrics of love, loss and the struggles to move on and get over (“Moving On And Getting Over”), which have been so perfectly illustrated through his music.
I’m feeling it, but I’m not complaining: I’ve found that when you make the active and conscious effort to practice love and gratitude and to put yourself first, you are able to see the world much more clearly. You’re less hard on yourself and on others. And you’re able to just let love.
I know I say it every year, but that’s what the day is all about — to see the love already around you, to love openly and love yourself enough to know a good love from a bad love.
Happy Valentine’s, lovebirds. ❤
